From what I can tell G2 was designed to work with a single WordPress installation. There are some modifications to make it work with multiple but since those are all base WordPress installs there are issues with how it handles the users from what I understand.

WordPress-MU is designed to work with multiple users but off of the base WPMU install. From what I understand most WP plug-in's work fine with G2 so I'm curious if anyone has looked at or tried it with WordPress-MU?

I know WPG2 2.x would not work for WPMU however I have had one report of WPG2 3.x working with WPMU (Not sure with or without Modifications). I think it be a matter of plug it in and see what works..

It looks like it runs at least as a Gallery. I can access G2 install and upload and view them in a side bar view Word Press. I've tried logging in as another user that had another blog, that seemed to work. I'm not sure of the effect of the multiple users or blogs will be. I realize with WP it couldn't do that because there is no way to determine one blog's users from another blog's users, but that is the whole point of WordPress-MU so hopefully that won't be an issue.

I can add the side bar via widget, skin will take some working with but that seems to integrate. When I'm making a post though, is there are method to pull images directly from the G2 Gallery to place in the blog post?

Also is there a way to change what the Gallery displays within the WordPress embed? For example lets say you have Albums Jack and Jill. One blog goes to the Album Jack and another goes to the album Jill?

Basically what I'm trying to do is create a set of blogs/galleries for family and friends. A place where they can share what is going on with them currently so we can all keep in touch. But also have a gallery for them to setup to upload photos, without me having to manage and setup users in a blog system as well as the gallery system. Do you think this is the right track with WordPress and G2 or would you suggest something else?

I had the same set of thoughts before and believe WPMU / G2 would be a good tool of choice for this..

You can use the G2image selection tool, it should be showing up on your tinymce toolbar in Write Posts to add G2 content.

As for the albums, yes, you need to turn on User Albums in Gallery2, thus each Gallery2 User will have a dedicated album, then it be a matter of linking directly to that users album.

It sounds like you are getting pretty close to making it all work..

G2 with the "image" icon below it = G2Image!

(I also tend to name my dogs Blacky, Rosy (Irish Setter), Sunny (Yellow Lab), etc...)

ROFL! The funny thing is, I SWEAR the icon was not there. Although maybe it had something to do with cache or I could be getting old and was literally blind. I took the screen shot on another computer and didn't even look at it, because on my main system it wasn't there. I swear it wasn't there... I'm not crazy, really... ok sometimes.

So far things are working fine it seems. I'll still need to do some more testing with multiple users and how that effects G2 side of it. I did notice on my admin account that manages all of WordPress-MU I have the ability to select which users are G2 Admins or just users. I can also downgrade an admin to a user from the main WPMU admin interface.

Some things I've noticed. When I click on the G2 icon to bring up the interface, the load time for it is really slow. Not sure if that is my connection or just the way it is loading.

With other Galleries in WordPress you can create a WordPress page and use something like [gallery=1] (1 being the album id or number) and it would load the thumbnails for that album on that particular page. Are there similar function commands like that built into the G2 Plugin like that?
