Hybrid theme broken? Cache-problem?

As already discussed in German at http://gallery.menalto.com/node/68885#comment-249327 I have a strange problem with the hybrid theme after using Site Admin / Maintenance with _all_ "system maintenance"-options. Performance is set to "no acceleration".

If you click on a photo, it will not be enlarged. The 1st row of the album-overiew is cut off.

E.g. it looks like this screenshot:

Maybe it is a cache problem. I have waited for 1 night and nothing didn't change. It didn't help to delete all albums and upload 1 album again. But I know it worked before I executed all"system maintenance"-options.

Below the albums you see //. There should be a linklist of all albums.

Seems you have customized a template or some file is corrupt.
look under the photo and you will see:

also on the main page at the bottom.
perhaps you miss typed something?

I would:
FAQ: How can I make sure that my installation files are all intact?
to find the corrupt file.

No I didn't customize anything till now, just executed all "system maintenance"-options with a fresh setup gallery containing 1 album and later more. I have tried it with another new setup gallery with the same result, after executing all "system maintenance"-options hybrid didn't work anymore.

Below is the result of the check. "Erfolgreich" means ok. Maybe you will find something in the warning section. Jpegtran seems to be broken, after I installed it with "Get More Plugins", but I don't need it as well as the themes, mentioned at the warnings. Could the missing notification-module create this error?

The 2 slashes below the photo I saw after the system maintenance, before there were links to other albums. It is a very strange if 2 galleries have the same behaviour, but they are on another account at the same server.

Strange, now it works.

There are 2 users, both with admin-rights

The 1st user is the user, which was created during the installation, and the language now is English (US), the installation was done in German. The 2nd user uses German as default-language. Normally I use the 2nd user, since my 1st language ist German. I executed now the system maintenance as the 1st user in English and now it seems to work.

So maybe there is a problem with the German language package?

I think it was luck. There was no chance till now to get it work with another gallery. I forget to mention, that I deleted jpegtran and notifications, because these modules were mentioned at the warnings.

With the other gallery we tried to do the same, I mean language English for the 1st user, _all_ "system maintenance"-options again, but now with the English interface, a.s.o.

With http://cornelias.album.priv.at/ which works now there is a little bit delay in the hybrid-theme at the moment when, the above screenshot was made. It looks like the hybrid-theme likes to do something, but doesn't find a command and stops working. As mentioned, the photo is not enlarged, when it stops.

Since I didn't edit a file or uploaded a file new, I think, there is a hard to find bug.

Any ideas?

Hard to troubleshoot an issue that you can't reproduce.

Of course,

I had the 2 // (see screenshot above) now too with the matrix-theme. So it is not hybrid-theme related only. My guess, it is a cache problem somewhere, but I have no idea which cache I have to check. Of course, I deleted the cache locally, tried different browsers and different pcs.

With the 2nd gallery we had no chance to get the hybrid theme work. I mean clicking on the thubmnail didn't enlarge the picture with the hybrid theme. Since hybrid uses Javascript, maybe there is a relation. We setup another gallery from the beginning, didn't use _all_ "system maintenance"-options and it works till now. But there is still a delay (about 1 sec), if the page is not cached, between the screenshot above and the full loaded hybrid theme.

For the 2nd new install we did the following:

all files from the installation have been deleted, including the g2data-folder and the mysql-database itself. The new database got a different name.

The 1st and the 2nd install used the same sources.

md5sum gallery-2.2.3-full.tar.gz
df5c1a6ecbf0b498417ceffc66fe5f3b gallery-2.2.3-full.tar.gz

Both galleries show this value and decompressing was done on the webserver, not locally.

The decompressed files are stored in an "install-directory" on the webserver and from there they are copied on the webserver (locally) to the web-directory (public_html) via ssh in a bash.

Since we had the same bug on 2 galleries with 2 different accounts and md5sum shows the same values on both accounts, I don't believe that a file is corrupt.

So what can I do? There are 2 working galleries at the moment, but I fear to get these troubles again, if I do something in the "system maintenance".

Would it help to setup a test-gallery with this behaviour? What do you need then? I can try to do the same setup as it didn't work. Let me know, what I can do, to analyze this bug.

Please be patient, it will take a few days to setup everything.

I setup a test gallery (g2.album.priv.at) and (un)fortunately I cannot produce this behaviour with this gallery again. I assume I didn't configure it exactly the same. I will leave a note hear, when I have this problem again. Maybe someone sees the 2 slashes below the album and then he knows that he is not alone.

I came a little bit closer to the problem. It happened 2 times with a new setup gallery of my grandma. I executed Check "short style URLs for filesystem conflicts" and got "Success". Afterwards I saw the 2 // and the hybrid theme didn't show a large photo. I deactivated the plugin "URL Rewrite" and everything worked as it should. I activated "URL Rewrite" again and it didn't worky anymore. I deactivated "URL Rewrite" and it is ok again.

So could it be a problem of the configuration of the hoster? Sorry I am not allowed to give you access to my grandma's gallery, but I will give you any info you need. But my grandma and I use the same hoster, and as mentioned, http://cornelias.album.priv.at/ is ok now. We both use nearly the same setup.

I would try this:
Deactivate and uninstall the rewrite module. Delete that directory from the filesystem.
Then use downloadable plugins to download and install a fresh version of the rewrite module. Then try again.
Activate the module with 'Apache mod_rewrite'

If you have the same result:
Open a new post in the troubleshooting forum with php info and system info from the admin maintenance page.
