In traveling the web today, I can across an interesting web application, Buxfer (http://buxfer.com). I was impressed by the fact that the site allowed you to login with your Google Account by using the Google Client Login API (http://code.google.com/apis/accounts/Authentication.html). I immediately thought this would be an incredible gallery2 plugin idea, especially since most of my users use Gmail accounts already. I don't have the technical expertise to implement this myself, does anyone else find this interesting enough to give it a serious look? Buxfer also allows you to login with an OpenID (how I found the site in the first place), Yahoo!, AIM, or Facebook account, but it seems like Google and AIM were the only two options that let you keep your existing account if you decided to log in with them, a requirement for my gallery2 installation. I personally would prefer to see OpenID login support implemented first, but the Google Account support is a step in the right direction since many users already have a Google Account and it is therefore less complicated than OpenID for novice users. It appears that an OpenID module was in progress but has since halted, I don't know what the development status is. With VeriSign's OpenID PIP https://pip.verisignlabs.com now offering two-factor authentication (using the same key fob being offered to secure your PayPal and eBay accounts: https://www.paypal.com/securitykey), OpenID has become my preferred login method on any site that offers it. Anyway, just throwing this out there for anyone who may be interested. |

There was work on an openID plugin; but the guy working on it seems to have a problem. The registration code was never designed to be customized. So he has moved on to making hooks in register module. it's in the roadmap under Nice To Haves for version 2.3
