[Resolved] Unable to login after upgrade

I've just upgraded to version 2.2.1. And after having problems with the installation I finally got the gallery to work again (see thread http://gallery.menalto.com/node/63959). However, I am faced with another problem now, I can not login anymore.

I've read the FAQ http://codex.gallery2.org/Gallery2:FAQ#I_can.27t_login_anymore.2C_what_can_I_do_now.3F but none of that helped me. Any clues as to what I can do?

After clearing the cache as shown in the FAQ all that happens as I try to login is that I get sent back to the top page, but I remain not logged in. Before I cleaned the cache, when I tried to login, I got the login screen with the two fields to fill in; user: and passord: but I also got the "auto generated number screen" and was asked to fill in that number in the subsequent field.

delete your browser's cookie cache. but that shouldn't be an issue.
the session has the correct userId. and it loads the session correctly, as far as i see from the logs. it should work fine...

Yes there were some problems with the upgrade, and I'm quite sure that it all comes back to the hosting company that I'm using, I frequently have problems with the
MySql database they provide. I'll change provider when the annual fee is up.
