Difficulty Embedding Gallery2 in Drupal- imageblock - white screen of death. : }

Issue with Gallery2 embedding in Drupal 4.7.6 As soon as "imageblock" is activated we get "white screen of death", gallery runs fine standalone. version 2.1.2

We're on a dedicated server with php 5. and mysql 5, 512 megs of ram. php ini memory set to 80 megs.

here's gallery's output of system info; any advice would be much appreciated.....
