Cannot Modify Header Information

I posted in this gallery about 4 weeks ago, asking the same question. I am getting the following error when I click on the breadcrumb header at the top of the gallery.

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /home/robbie/public_html/gallery2/main.php:618) in /home/robbie/public_html/gallery2/modules/core/classes/GalleryPhpVm.class on line 124

I was told it was a WPG2 error and to take the question to them. I did. They informed me it was a problem that ya'll would know how to fix. So I'm hoping you do.

I'm running Gallery version 2.1.1 (from what I gather in the versions.dat file), my browser is IE 7 (also has error in IE 6). I have reinstalled the gallery at least 2x (maybe 3) and the error will not go away. I am using a fairly simple template for Word Press (I have tried 3 others), I haven't modified anything except for the picture that is displayed at the top of the website. www.ran3.net and www.ran3.net/wp/wp-gallery2.php are the website and gallery addresses, respectively. I would love for this to work! It has been driving me crazy for over a month. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

(If you would like any files posted just let me know)

why do you create a new forum topic about the same issue? you could just continue the old thread.
and why not at least link to the existing topic where you actually received a answer?

does your standalone g2 with the standard theme (matrix) show the same error? if not, it has to do either with the wpg2 integration or the wordpress g2 theme.

i just looked at the involved files of that error and it's not that obvious to me. maybe the guys from wpg2 can help us there?

I'm sorry I didn't think about continuing the old thread...

If I go to www.mywebsite.com/gallery, I do not get errors in the breadcrumb links at the top. Do you know of anything that may be outdated that could cause this? Like certain versions of things on my server maybe? I have other friends that are hosted on the same server as I with the WPG2 plugin and they do not get this error. I have tried this on multiple themes and multiple installs and I always get this error...

i know what bug in the embedding could cause the error you get when clicking on breadcrumbs. but that's a bug in the embedding code (wpg2), not in g2.
specifically, it's about not exiting after GalleryEmbed::handleRequest() if isDone is true.
or about outputting html before calling GalleryEmbed::handleRequest() .

no, you're not screwed. it's probably a simple fix in wpg2.
what i don't understand is why the wpg2 forum guys send you here. can you ask them why, maybe link them to http://gallery.menalto.com/node/60988#comment-222631 (my previous post) to explain things.

Buickstlye, I am a true novice, but have had similar error mssgs while trying to upload images and have found a solution that is working for me. The 'g2data' folder needs to have /albums, /tmp folders (along with locks, cache, plugins_dat and smarty) and I have found that they tend to dissapear. So when i add those directories, it seems to work again.

Hiya Valiant,

Actually this is NOT a WPG2 issue.. Thousands of sites run the WPG2 without experiencing this error which is why I directed the posted over to the Gallery2 forum for support as it is something specific inside the posters Gallery2 installation that is causing G2 to return those errors..

Oh.. For the record, the code does a GalleryEmbed::handleRequest(); and a check for isDone.. (in the wp-gallery.php file) if the code was incorrect we would have heard about this way way before this poster..

ozgreg

thanks for joining the discussion.

based on these facts i have a difficult time to understand the issue. since you delegated the issue to the gallery forums, maybe you have more insight:
- no errors for the user in g2 standalone
- in wpg2: errors about code that tries to send headers after starting to send data / html.

could it be possible that:
- the user is using old wpg2 code which triggers such a buggy behavior or
- that wpg2 is calling handleRequest or other G2 code that sends headers multiple times?

my means to diagnose this issue are very limited since i don't know wpg2.
