I want to have two completely seperate skins available to view the same gallery2 data. So exactly same data but ability to customise skins and plugins for differenet views of the albums.
I was hoping to set up two installs and simply specify the same database... not so easy
Background: I have a gallery 2.1 set up, and managed to get everything working the way I like with an embeded skin in Wordpress (I am using vSlider). However this skin is not designed to be viewed non-embedded. I also have Google Maps plugin which I need the advanced functionality available which simply does not work in the embedded version.
The idea is therefore to provide an embedded skin available to various blogs, and then a subdomain where users can access a non-embedded skin and the GoogleMap plugin to view and set the locations of the images.
How would I go about setting this up?

Probably not the most efficient (or even "correct" way of doing this, but I found out that it's much easier to simply copy the whole gallery script directory under the second domain and as long it is on the same server, the only thing that you need to change are the themes, as you please. Worked fine for me.
