Gallerys ranked as popular content module in Mambo/Joomla

Mambo and Joomla offer a popular moldule that lists the most poular items withing joomla or mambo. However, it doesnt curently consider an embedded gallery.

an example of what I would like is that if 99% of my trafic is viewing the photo galleries, i would expect the top galleies visited to be listed in the poular module

Has anyone tried to get gallery and the popular module integrated?
