Since a few days, the GALLERY2 trunk of the SVN gives always the "truncated" error decribed in the Wiki - the remedy is already in place and doesn't help :(.
The GALLERY-CONTRIB trunk works perfect at the same time and is always completing its job.

Any idea? Seems the latest Nightly's face a similar problem (they are stuck on August 21 (at least Jesses' - Chetans isn't accesible at the moment).

Quote:
Error: Secure connection truncated
Some users encounter this error communicating with svn.sourceforge.net, particularly on long running commands like checkout. Here is a response from Sourceforge:

While we are not sure what the cause of the problem is, the following seems to resolve the 'Secure connection truncated' error message that some SVN users have encountered. In the [global] section of the ~/.subversion/servers file, add the following line:
http-compression = no

Gallery version = 2.2-svn core 1.1.15
PHP version = 5.1.4 apache2handler
Webserver = Apache/2.2.3 (Win32) DAV/2 PHP/5.1.4 mod_ssl/2.2.2 OpenSSL/0.9.8b
Database = mysql 5.0.22-log,
Theme=PGtheme,

I haven't had any problems doing an 'svn up' for a while, are you doing an 'svn co' or 'svn up'?

I assume an "up" - selecting SVN update using my WinTortoise-RightClick-Menue

Gallery version = 2.2-svn core 1.1.15
PHP version = 5.1.4 apache2handler
Webserver = Apache/2.2.3 (Win32) DAV/2 PHP/5.1.4 mod_ssl/2.2.2 OpenSSL/0.9.8b
Database = mysql 5.0.22-log,
Theme=PGtheme,
Gallery-URL=http://lf-photodesign.de

i don't know of anything to do except keep retrying.. svn should pickup where it left off.
we're trying to raise sourceforge's awareness of this.

that's very much appreciated.
I currently get two error messages
1. when aborted during an update - the truncation error
and
2. when no update flys in
" REPORT requets failed on '/svnroot/gallery/!svn/vcc/default'
REPORT of '/svnroot/gallery/!svn/vcc/default': 200 OK (https://svn.sourceforge.net)

I'm getting the same problem, turned-off http compression as indicated, also tried http:// instead of https://, that didn't help

so I typically run svn checkout ... some 30+ times before it managed to complete

I am also having the exact same problem as well. Am trying to get the latest gallery2 source from svn. I get the following error after a while after doing a svn checkout ..., or svn update:

svn: REPORT request failed on '/svnroot/gallery/!svn/vcc/default'
svn: REPORT of '/svnroot/gallery/!svn/vcc/default': Could not read response body: Secure connection truncated (https://svn.sourceforge.net)

I'm on Dreamhost logged into my shell account trying to do this. I've tried the http compression fix but it doesn't make a difference for me. The checkout/update seems to get a little further each time, but it's failed approx. 20 times for me already over a period of 4 hours.

Other references that I've come across:
http://codex.gallery2.org/index.php/GMC:Sourceforge_Issues
http://gallery.menalto.com/node/48662

Has anyone made any discoveries on how to fix this? Thanks!!!!

Update: No solution but after running svn checkout about 40 times it finally finished. ugh.

I have the truncated error too for as long as I can think of although I changed the compression setting.

But I have more questions:
- what is the difference between svn checkout and svn update?
- how can I restrict updates to specific versions or just releases and not betas? I must have to see which versions are available and which I could chose to update to.

@kaisa: checkout fetches the whole container and stores it at a given location.
Update only updates an existing installation.

You must restrict to specific branches.

How can I restrict to specific branches?
I remember I had to checkout once the first time I used svn.
How can I see online which version exactly I have installed?

btw: nice site. will the buyers receive the pictures immediately after paying with paypal?

@kaisa: not immediately, I have to process - there's unfortunately no 'download on demand' feature

Gallery version = 2.2-svn core 1.1.20
PHP version = 5.1.6 apache2handler
Webserver = Apache/2.2.3 (Win32) DAV/2 PHP/5.1.6 mod_ssl/2.2.3 OpenSSL/0.9.8c

I've been having this problem for a while now with the update command, but in the past I've only had to retry three or four times to get through the update. Recently, It's been more like 20 times. Currently, I'm only getting about 50 files per try - this is going to take all day!

Blah.

[EDIT] - I'm also on Dreamhost. Are other people having this problem using this hosting provider? Perhaps it's an issue on their end. Does any knowledgeable person know if it's even possible that this is a problem on the hosting end, not at sourceforge?

[EDIT] - These are the two errors that I'm getting (they kind of take turns).

svn: REPORT request failed on '/svnroot/gallery/!svn/vcc/default'
svn: REPORT of '/svnroot/gallery/!svn/vcc/default': Could not read chunk delimiter: Secure connection truncated (https://svn.sourceforge.net)

svn: REPORT request failed on '/svnroot/gallery/!svn/vcc/default'
svn: REPORT of '/svnroot/gallery/!svn/vcc/default': Could not read response body: Secure connection truncated (https://svn.sourceforge.net)

Thanks!
