How to set up resized correctly?

A question: I set up two resizes: I max size (original) is: When I upload a photo (think so) more > ~640 I see When I upload a photo less ~640 (e.g. 500) I see How can I tell gallery (of what to set up) to use everytime the default size ~640? So, if max.size is 500 => it must be the default size and not 320!!!

G2 never generates resizes that are equal or larger sized than the original. never. this would result in upsampled images of minor quality.
of course you can hack your g2 to allow upsampling.
but i suggest you rather live with it as is or upload larger images or change the resize version priority to have the 320 version as default.

thx u, but your suggestions are vive versa I want to see. First, I do not want to upsample. That's out of the question.
I will live with 500px. All I want is to show this 500px (if picture is small) as default. I can't force users upload
more than 500px. (of course, I can, but in this way I have to rectrict upload more than 640px which is suitable for the screen, but then will eat me, because I see 10-15% upload small pictures).
I want to show by default 640 (if original is bigger than 640).
I want to show by default original (<640) (if original is less than 640) and NOT 320px (which I also need, for other purposes). I belived I set up first resize 640 and it will the default. But gallery approximate my 500 not to 640, but to 320 (which is SECOND place). I want to teach =) Gallery do it in other way. Becase me (and users) must choose
"original" 500 px size on EACH picture.
Please, tell me the login on what Gallery choose this default size.
I don't like it. If it is unpossible to tune up, please tell the best way to hack it and where if possible.
