FOR FULL SIZE PHOTO FRAMES. (Not Thumbs.)

I thought it might be fun simply to have a brass plate topically descibing the image within its frame. It doesn't bother me that the theme is Photo Corners either. :) All in a days fun.

My problem is that the brass plate is on the BB tile at about 900px wide.
The Brass Plate sits tidily left within it.
I can't see anything that logically allows me to place the BB.gif centrally so that the BBL and BBR tiles "wrap" the vacant spaces L to R of it.
So mine's a crude fix by making the plate so long that it basically caters for all widths of image up to 900 or so.
Does anyone know of the solution? Or is that pushing things a bit far?

(I've also included a spare plate if anyone wants to opt out of cloning out the title I have in place.)
Again, I made it and if anyone can use it it's there.
I don't know much PHP but this is my best contribution to offer my graphics at least.

OK, Ive repaired the ZIp address. My fault. I deleted the rot files on my server a little while back but its working now.
I'll go and take a look at the path in the user contributions page as well while Im at it!
Hope this is of some help.
Neil.

Ive also included in the zip a smaller version of the same so that when you view the thumbnails and/or want to theme the galery the huge photo frame doesnt look foolish. The brass plate is missing from the smal version as it was unreadable anyway.
In all you can see these at
http://www.knightscene.com
where Ive installed the Gallry 2 for myself.
personaly speaking, this is the most incredible software Ive ever used for Photo publication. It just cannot cannot be beaten.
Anything else just isnt worth the time of day.
Neil.

And Here's a version where I've removed the wording, made the plate Silver and also included (as with the brass plated one) a blank plate for your own image and wording.

http://www.orangecastle.com/silverplatedphotoframe.zip

As you see, the smaller frames are more complimentary and theyre included in the zip above this post called framesKnightScene.zip.

LINK NOW UPDATED AND FIXED.

I must admit I enjoy the whimsy of photocorners on a frame big enough to have a brass plate.

How about also giving us the brass plate with the lovely frame and no photo corners

And perhaps an old fashioned gilt frame with the brass plate.

Opportunity here for a whole family of frames.

Thanks
Gaynor.

The Photo Corners I thought made a nice contrast to the bland meet at the corners. Kind of a fun issue. Only in the digital world can ya do this.
Ill make one without the corners.
Takes me a good hour to make a pleasing wooden gilt frame, but I'll do this tommorow. Ill also make a cornerless frame in white.
Hope you got on ok with the zips.

Thanks Neil.

Yes I have it up and working.
(I thought I had added a comment to this effect earlier today, but I don't see it here.)

Since then I have been playing with it and have managed to centre the plate for my gallery ( !! I limit images in this gallery to 700px and this fix fits that as long as the width that is 700)

See my album at http://piopionz.com/gallery2/v/OurTown/

I have attached a copy of my altered gif.

I love this frame, and putting our town's name on it, I can use it on any album in this gallery as long as the photos are all in landscape mode.(easy enough to make a point of putting portrait mode pics in another album.... and I guess making a second frame specially for it.)

Thank you very much for thinking of this wonderful frame.

Good. Very Good Photos by the way.
Glad it works.
I thought of the fixed image size butmany of my shots are i narrow backalleys at night with beautiful lighting and formatting didnt work for me so i left hung it.
I need to do something to it to make it lok les cartoony. Maybe tone up the black screws and border. I'll lok at a real brass plate and se if I can make it look more 3 dimensional.
have fun..........

Thanks
Yes it is much harder to get it to work for tall pics.
see my effort at
http://piopionz.com/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=235

I set that for an ordinary dimensioned image turned to portrait view, but the artist whose paintings I was photographing uses lots of odd shaped canvases.
The red flower one is very tall and slim. Even setting its width to the default width, the gallery programme seems to reset it such that the brass plate goes to one side.
I may have to photograph those tall pics on a plain wall and make the total dimensions of the image match the default.

I have yet to show this to the artist, but think it will be fun to put her name on a brass plate

I am certainly having fun with it.

Thanks again.

Ok I have been having fun with it.

Have a loook at my experimenting at
http://piopionz.com/gallery2/v/ARTStudio/This/

There are some that definitely don't work well but the last two with the section of "wall" surrounding the painting to make the total image the default proportions definitely work.

This is why I left slung it in the first place. Like a book label.
im currently looking into the way the frame pieces work and If I sort it I'll be able to centralise the label element and let the L and R pieces wrap to fill the adjacent spaces either side of the badge.
We'll see. it's what I'd like.

Just thinking about it there is a loooong dirty fix.........
Create the frame as part of the displayed work and submit it effectively without an external frame.

Aw !!!
That is giving up

It also leaves the door open for using different frames within an album and that can get VERY messy.

What we really need is to be able to change the way the bottom of the frame is made, so that we have another image BBC.gif which is automatically placed in the centre of the bottom of the frame.

because clearly the way frames work is that the BB.gif repeats across the whole bottom, with the BL.gif, BBL.gif, BBR.gif, and BR.gif layered above it in their own positions.

BL and BBL must be aligned left, and BBR and BR aligned right.
Surely it would not be difficult to put BBC.gif aligned centrally, but I don;t know how to do that.

It would also be useful to be able to put a feature centrally on the top and sides for making the old style shaped frames

I think this might be of more general interest than this specific frame. So I am copying this into a new thread. - "Placing a feature centrally in frame Bottom"

I've already done this in the original thread but currently I cant see any way of getting a central part to stay put while the l and r pieces wrap it.
Ive been looking at this for a while ands its beyond me.
Or Im looking in the wrong place.

OK Neil, Here is a suggestion.
In the PG theme there is a setting for "interactive frame" which seems to make a space below or above the actual image.
The size of the space can be set in "albums/theme". So the top space could be set to zero.
From a quick look at it, it seems to me we could designate an image to be set into that space and designate both an image and (I think ) a size for the spaces on left and right of that image

My thought is we could make a special frame that would only work properly with that feature carefully organised.
The bottom section of the special frame would only have the very lowest part of the frame (below the drass plate) in the BBL, BB, and BBR, and the upper part of a normal BL and BR would need to become LLB and RRB

Then the interactive part take care of the rest of the frame + Brass plate

What do you think?
I haven;t tried it yet and won;t have time over the weekend

I think the problem is that its the outer base graphics which are fixed size. Its the inner middle base graphic that wraps or tiles and this is the one with the brass plate on. This is the conmplication for me.
From this I can't see how to make the central image asa fixed graphic in size and placement and have the outer ones tile. ill lok into it tonight and se what I can dig out.
Someone else would probably walk it but this is all a learning curver here thats a bit steep sometimes.
