how do i change that??
tnx in advance
GR uses the permission set on your standalone Gallery. If you're using Nuke, and have your permissions there, you may see this problem you're describing. Go into the standalone side and set what permissions you need there but leave any existing Nuke permission alone! You'll see strange Nobody's there and vise-versa in Nuke.
I'm having the same problem. I've got 1.01, full install. Logging in as admin, so I should have rights to everything. Yet I still get the (read-only) thing. I set up another user, added them to all of the permission areas, still same problem.
I'm running the latest Apache, PHP, stable gallery & 1.01 remote. This is a standalone gallery.
Help. Uploading pix 3 at a time is going to take me forevah!
Agreed - I have the same problem - Gallery v1.3.4 and GR 1.0.1 - logging in as admin, all albums reported as read only. Any ideas?
I assume I'm running a standalone Gallery since i don't know what Nuke is!
Server OS is WinXp.
Thanks for any help,
I found a work around. The only way that I could get anything to go in is to go into gallery and create an album there. Then set the permissions so the owner is 'EVERYONE.' Fire up gallery remote and log in. You should see that album there, without the dreaded (read-only) tag. Drag & drop to your heart's content. Select all and upload. You must remember to reset the ownership of the album when you are done, because this workaround basically removes all security from the album.
The upshot is that it works. I've pumped 400+ photos in so far.
Login to your gallery, not GalleryRemote as admin. Change the permissions on your existing albums. They have probably defaulted back to NOBODY.
Dunno why, but that's what happened to all my albums upon upgrading from 1.3.3 to 1.3.4.
Unfortunately, I couldn't find a way to do this recursively, so I just change the permissions on each gallery. Oh well, a little time consuming, but it worked.
Nope - I checked that. All the permissions had been reset, it's true, but I reset them and made sure that each album had admin in all the permissions fields.
WHen I log in as admin, I can;t get it to work.
Changing the owner is possible when I want to upload photos myself. However, I have several other people who use my gallery from time to time, and I don;t want to a)tell them the admin password so that they can change the owner themselves or b)have to tell them to ask me to change the owner each time they want to upload photos.
I beleive that this is a real bug, I'm just surprised that only two people have seen it.
Actually, both people who have seen it are called Michael. Aahhhh.... perhaps a clue to the bug!
Oops. Replying to my own post - bad form I know. Sorry. Anyway - I'll carry on.
Albums had correct permissions set, but sub-albums hadn;t. Thanks Parker. Looks like I've got sometihng to do at work today!
My problem is that I had the correct permissions set in the album and sub albums and still nothing. Can't create albums or anything.
Guess I'll have to stick to my workaround until I hear otherwise.
If you;re using Windows XP on the macihne that you're uploading from, I've found that theweb publishing wizard works pretty well. Can;t get it to work in 2k though.
you can try downloading the latest beta version(gallery_remote_1.1b12.zip) from herehttp://jpmullan.com/galleryupdates/
and unzipping it overtop of the 1.0.1 GR.
I think you'll need to change your 'gallery remote.lax' file as stated here
also posting or attaching your log might help, instructions are in the ReadMe.html file
paour, the guy who would fix it if its a bug, and would be the most help to you is on holidays till the 16th
You guys rock, handling this beautifully while I'm gone
From what I read, only mwsmith2 is still having problems with this. The rest of you have determined that the problem was caused by Gallery having corrupted permissions.
mwsmith2, can you double-check? Can you PM me a full log (the ReadMe.html tells how) of your GR session?
Another log, sent to me by pnugent shows this to be the same problem he was having.
I resolved my problem by upgrading 1.3.5-cv2-b35 to 1.3.5-cvs-b53. This upgrade required the album data bases to be upgraded. Subsequently, GR works and albums are now usable.
Upgrading caused the data bases to be upgraded
I'm running Windows 2000 with Apache 18.104.22.168, Gallery 1.3.4, Gallery Remote 1.1b12, and I get the same problem as the topic starter. I can't create a new album from the remote because it says I don't have permissions to do so. I can't modify any existing albums unless I change the preferences to EVERYONE. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
According to pnugent, upgrading to the latest beta of Gallery 1.3.5 fixes the problem. Could you try that?
where would i get 1.3.5-cvs-b53?
i'm running 1.3.4-cvs-b34 and the new gallery remote totally screwed my whole gallery up. I can't even change the permission on my album folders anymore and i can't delete them either. I wanna start from scratch, but I'd like to do so with the latest and greatest. Thanks
nm, i think i got it
