I am trying to install G2 on a local server set-up with Msas. Msas includes PHP 4.4.0, Apache, 2.0 and MySQL 4.1.14 as well as Mambo. When trying to open the index.php file from the G2 install directory it opens in Dreamweaver and I get the message:
"If you're seeing this in your browser, and are trying to install Gallery,
* you either do not have PHP installed, or if it is installed, it is not
* properly enabled. Please visit the following page for assistance:
*
* http://gallery.sourceforge.net/"

But Mambo runs just fine so nothing seems to be wrong with PHP. I am a novice when it comes to server techniques (hence the Msas package). It was easy to install G2 on my provider's server. There I have a site of a professional photographer running with G2 (G2 is great!) but now I'm totally lost.

I already searched on this site looking for an answer to a problem similar to mine, but couldn't find anything. Can anyone help me?

- are you sure you accessed install/index.php with a web browser?
- are you sure gallery2 is in the web directory of your apache server?
- are you sure php isn't just enabled for your mambo folder?

Thanks for your reply valiant! Much appreciated. Regarding your questions:
- yes
- mambo unzipped gallery2 to H:\Program Files\http_root\www\Mambo452\media\install_43c3a41fcd263\gallery2, Apache is in H:\Program Files\http_root\usr\local\Apache2
- how can I check this?

- g2 shouldn't be in a path with spaces in it on windows ("c:\Program Filea"), isn't a problem for g2 itself, but when generating thumbnails etc it could be a problem
- you'd have to browse to http://localhost/Mambo452\media/install_43c3a41fcd263/gallery2/install/index.php or replace localhost with your host name.
of course i don't know if www/ is actually your document root.

- ok, thank you for pointing this out to me
- msas creates a temporary drive W:, so I guess I'd have to browse to http://www/Mambo452/media/install_43c3a41fcd263/gallery2/install/index.php, on the installation drive H: I'd have to browse to http:/Program Files/http_root/www/Mambo452/media/install_43c3a41fcd263/gallery2/install/index.php

Unfortunately neither of this works. By the way: can you explain to me why msas needs this W: drive?

moved to the integration forum.
i suggest you ask these questions in the official mamboserver.com forums, since they are mostly related to their xampp package.
