Hi there, G2 folks.

My community site needs to migrate from 4images gallery to G2, due to the obvious reasons :) 4images gallery counts around 1100 pics and 1000 users. So I need an automated solution for migration, but I don't have any time for learning G2 API and writing this script.

I'm ready to donate a little something to those of your who are eager to write migration module and release it under GPL.

The module should migrate (in order of priority):
1. images
2. albums structure
3. user base
4. user comments
5. images & albums permissions
6. user favorite images & other goodies

4images db structure is pretty simple, so it should not take a long time.
It would be great to get something working in a month or sooner.

I think it would be great for faster G2 adoption to write several migration modules from other popular galleries like Coppermine, 4images, etc.

All the best,
Alexander Krestinin aka alkor

someone is soon finished with a coppermine -> G2 import script. it is well written etc. better designed than our g1 -> g2 migration module.

i suggest you wait for the coppermine -> g2 module to be released and then start a 4images -> G2 module based on the coppermine -> G2 module.

Any word on this? I have several sites running 4images each with thousands of users/images that I would like to migrate to Gallery2. I am willing to PAY for an import script.

for for-pay inquiries, please use the marketplace forum.

this topic is just 13 days old. i hope the coppermine -> g2 module is soon finished, then someone could start creating a 4images -> g2 module based on it.

So far I can give an update on this topic:
I've managed to migrate my 4images gallery to CPG and then to G2.
Only albums (~30) and pic (~1000) were migrated.

What was lost:
1. Albums hierarchy
2. All user base & user permissions
3. PIcture comments
4. Lightbox content (favourites)

DB structure of 4images is VERY similiar to CPG one; I've also contacted CPG->G2 migration module author. He is still committed to continue his work, however, it will take him a long time (1-3 months) to release the next version of the module.

Currently I'm still testing migration results and tune the scripts. When I'll finish my migration, I'll give you the status updat
& publish migration scripts&instruction. I expect it to happen within a week in the worst case.

PS. valiant, my great big thanks for pointing me out the right direction for investigations.

Hello, any news regarding a migration script? I'd love to switch to Gallery2 but I have a couple of years worth of pictures with comments on a 4images installation which I'd rather not nuke.

etegration, you're in luck! Coppermine Migrate 0.1 for Gallery2

But fair warning: it doesn't import user permissions. So you'll have to add the "Everybody - view all versions" to each album imported. :(

go to your top album, add the everybody permissions, done.
it applies the new permissions to all subalbums and since all albums are subalbums of the root album, it's all you need to do.

can some one give me the "4images->coppermine' import script?

i am looking for a script that can import my 4images gallery to coppermine because i am highly impressed with the loads of options coppermine gives and i have also listened to a lot of reviews on coppermine's script?
