My G2 is embedded in drupal (successfully so far).
However, there does not appear to be a way to set permission for access control for G2 from within drupal.
How can I set it so that a registered user of drupal can create album in G2?
The way I understand it is that a registered Drupal user will effectively become part of the "Registered Users" group in G2. If you have set up G2 so that that group can create albums (which is the default), then they should be able to create albums. Is this not the case in your installation?
If you want other permissions set for the user or group you will have to set that up in G2, as the functionality is not yet available in Drupal.

Please visit and play with http://artistscolony.net/. The G2 is newly installed and I have not started to configure it yet so the default should be in play. I find that if I log into drupal as site administrator, I can add album. But if I log into drupal as a registered user (you can try id=christa and pw=christa), I cannot add album.

My initial response was only partly correct, I'm pretty sure (I can't check it right now) that Drupal users are in the "Registered Users" group by default, but the problem you have is that the "Registered Users" group in G2 do not seem to be able to create albums by default. You need to go into the main (root) album and set the permissions ("Edit Permissions") that you want for that album (and the sub-albums). I didn't notice this on my site as I use "User Albums". I tried to look for an easy How-To on G2 permissions but didn't find one -- anyone else?
Also, have a quick check of your URL Rewrite settings (only the "Show Item" rule should be set as per INSTALL.txt) -- one link I saw still had a '/v' part which is not correct.

Thanks. Went into main album and edit permissions and now works.
I cannot find INSTALL.txt anywhere!
I printed out the docs that come with download and looked at both support and customization forums. But looks like they are all for the next step. Where can I find the info for someone like me who has never used gallery before - some very basic info for configurating the site?

sorry found INSTALL.txt. Inside the module. I was looking for it in G2.
But some basic instructions for G2 would be nice though.
For example, "To get the rewrite module working, you need to first configure and use it with the standalone Gallery2 install. Once it's working there disable all the rules except for the 'Show Item' rule and set its URL pattern to: gallery/%path%" - quoted from INSTALL.txt. I have been trying to configure the rewrite module in G2 with no clue what I am doing.
Another example, "You need to go into the main (root) album and set the permissions ("Edit Permissions") that you want for that album (and the sub-albums)" - if you did not tell me, there is no way I would know.
It is as if there is a whole section of basic instructions which I am missing?!?

Try http://codex.gallery2.org/index.php/Main_Page . It is still being worked on and new content is being added all the time.

I have looked at http://codex.gallery2.org/index.php/Main_Page but there isn't a basic configuration guide though.
