for the above feature, you need to have the thumbnail modules installed. (site admin -> modules).
if you have imagemagick with postscript support (ghostscript), then you'll even get thumbnails for eps files automatically (as far as i can remember).

I have these modules installed, and do not get thumbnails for EPS, PDF.
I have ghostscript and ImageMagick installed. In fact, I can generate a JPG thumbnail from ImageMagic on the terminal window with a PDF or EPS file, but Gallery 2 does not do it... what setting am I missing?
Also... the thumbnail manager does not seem to allow me to add new mime types to existing rulesets.
Gallery 2.6
Mac OS Leopard
Imagemagick
Ghostscript
GD
etc etc etc

As admin go to the item,
under edit item scroll down to the bottom of the General tab. You will be abo to upload a new thumbnail for this item.

Do you have a time machine?
FAQ: What information is required when I ask for help in the forums?
