matrix theme

Hi,
I hope someone can help me out.
I want to use the matrix theme, but I want the main album page to have one album per line with sub albums listed to the right and the actual albums just like they are in the matrix theme.... Like it is on this site:
http://www.codemain.com/gallery2/main.php

I have searched and searched for the solution with no luck.

Sounds like you really want to use the "Classic" theme instead. That site is using a very old version of G2 and things have been redone interms of layouts and themes. We just have themes now which control layout and the look of the content.

Hi,
Thanks for replying.
I have classic set up and would be happy to use it instead of matrix, but if I set it to do one album per line on the main gallery, all the albums have 1 item per line too. I don't want that. I want 3 across in the actual albums. Also, I don't want the text in the albums and photo pages to be on the right. I want them underneath, like it was in the G1 version (and is in the matrix theme).

I hope someone can help me. I've used G1 for years and want the same look (creature of habit, I guess). I would really like to use the new G2. It's very nice.

Ah. Do this then. In Site Admin > Themes, set your default theme to be the Matrix theme with the settings you want there. Then go back to your main album (main.php) and set it to use the Classic theme. When you create a new sub-album of the main album you might need to go into it and set it to use the default set at the Site Admin level. But this way you can control the look of all albums except for the main album.

wow, you make it sound so easy... and it probably is!

I'm looking at my main.php in textpad and there's 447 lines of code.
Unfortunately, I'm not savvy enough to have a clue where to "set it to use the Classic theme."

Can you give me a hint?

I really appreciate you're help. I've broken my Gallery install more times than I can count trying to accomplish this seemingly easy task.

Sorry, I should've been more clear. I mentioned (main.php) by meaning your main album. Just browse to that main album at yourG2URL/main.php and click on Edit Album and set it's theme to be "Classic".

wow, I knew I was over thinking it; making it harder than it was. I can honestly say, I'd never have thought of that!
