Just to clarify...NukedGallery.net is now supporting the integration for phpBB 2.0.x and Gallery 2, as well as the phpNuke family of CMS's. There is a wishlist post available on our forums (http://www.nukedgallery.net/postt1897.html) for things that yuo'd like to see in the integration package.

hi,

i think i have a problem.
i see phpbb as the main part and gallery as the child whereever i see people talking about g2 and phpbb.
Now my question is that, i have gallery as the main application in the domain root.
like lets say. http://www.mygallery.com/
now can add http://www.mygallery.com/forum/ (where i will install phpbb in the forum folder)
Now can this gallery 2 system in the root and the forum as a child can be integrated together?

please let me know. and if this is integrated, we have to manually place link to the forum from the gallry in any template?

not the way the integration is currently. the embedAPI was written, IIRC, with gallery being the slave and the other app being the master.

so there is no way that i can have a forum as a slave for gallery2 and have the same users for both the systems?

dmolavi, thanks for coming back.
i'm sorry but i dont understand anything from that codex page. i have unzipped that mod_UpdateExternalUser.tar and have module.inc file.
what do i do next? i'm lil bit shy to ask. but, if i dont, i will have to keep scratching my head forever.
can you please let me know further steps?
i have uploaded phpBB in domain.com/forum/
shall i install it or should do any modifications in gallery2 script?

honestly, i don't know. i've never used g2 in this manner, and i don't know what would be required to do so.

i believe the person who made that module.inc file is Joe7. you might want to send him a PM.

Hi.
You can use that module in g2, simply unzip that module into your gallery2/modules/UpdateExternalUser/
After this you can enable this module in g2.
As it's meant to be a "show the way it should be", i'm pretty sure that it's not fully function/not totally bugfree.
You could check module.inc for comments, and modify it according your needs.

The other problem is that i'm not sure if it's compatible with gallery 2.1., have to check it out.

On the other hand, I'm using (an update version of) this module on my site with G2.0.x, so it can work.

I'll get back to this topic tomorrow to help you out with this, saidly i don't have the time for it atm :/

Simple, but i believe not stupid question, out of 10 how hard is it to install the gallery on a moded forum? with its only template and small mods. I've added extras to my phpBB forum in the past and had issues. http://tassiechat.com is the website i would like to set it up on. Has anyone got some feedback on the newbie ranking needed? Thanks.

Will this make it to where you only need one log-in for both phpbb and gallery? In other words, will this integrate the user member list? I'm so confused, lol.

So, I see that you have to go through and manually edit the coding, something I have very little experience in. sigh. Is there a program like a wizard that would do this? My entire site is being compromised by the inability to integrate a forum board and a photo gallery. Needless to say, my users are very restless, as I am too. I've tried using coppermine, a program similar to Gallery. I didn't find coppermine as user-friendly or as functional as Gallery, but I sure did find it easy to integrate coppermine and phpbb2 via the use of a web-based wizard. Maybe something along the lines of a web-based wizard would make this a far less difficult task. I'm not saying that I'm completely illiterate when it comes to stuff like this, its just that 9.9 times out of 10, I'm going to do something wrong. ok, I'm finished with my rampage now. I've become a frustrated, grouchy webmaster. lol. sorry.

i need help

by the way, here is the website im working on: mydpnet.com

if you're unable to apply the required MOD code, submit a paid support request at nukedgallery.net.

note: if you're not comfortable w/ doing the MOD yourself, i HIGHLY recommend you backup all your files first, and again after the MOD is applied. making the changes is very easy, read the MOD howto on the phpbb site.

I'm a very sad person right now. I follow all your instructions for integrating phpbb and Gallery 2 and you know what? It didn't work, as I knew with me making the changes, it would not. I have no words to express my disappointment for I believe I will never be able to obtain the integration i so desperately desire. :( But hey, I do get this error message when trying to log out of my phpbb forum:

Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_ELSE in /home/mydptho5/public_HTML/forum/login.php on line 191

I guess I'll have to re-upload my forum again. I did make an extra copy of it, but I have doubts that it will work.

I'm just not savvy with code editing. Give me a graphical user interface any day.

Ok, I'm trying again. But i need to know what this means. What am I supposed to do?

# (Use correct table prefix if not phpbb)
#
CREATE TABLE `phpbb_gallery2` (
`fullPath` VARCHAR( 255 ) NOT NULL ,
`embedUri` VARCHAR( 255 ) NOT NULL ,
`g2Uri` VARCHAR( 255 ) NOT NULL ,
`activeAdminId` INT NOT NULL
);

Is there still a problem with phpbb2 integration for users who have spaces in their names?

A LOT of my users have spaces, so I'd like to be sure that this problem has been fixed before I attempt to integrate Gallery2 with phpbb....

Thanks
Eddy

Hi all!

I have embeded g2.1.2 in my phpbb 2.0.21...
My dir structure is

for phpbb
---> wwwroot/forum

there i got a file called gallery.php that contains..

Quote:
<?

define('IN_PHPBB', true);
$phpbb_root_path = './';
include($phpbb_root_path . 'extension.inc');
include($phpbb_root_path . 'common.'.$phpEx);

//
// Start session management
//
$userdata = session_pagestart($user_ip, PAGE_INDEX);
init_userprefs($userdata);
//
// End session management
//

$g2_Config['path'] = '../gallery/';

$g2_Config['embedPath'] = '/gallery/';
$g2_Config['g2Uri'] = '/gallery/';
$g2_Config['loginredirect'] = '/gallery/';
$g2_Config['embedUri'] = 'gallery.php';

//print_r($g2_Config);
require_once( $g2_Config['path'] . 'embed.php');
$ret = GalleryEmbed::init(array(
'g2Uri' => $g2_Config['g2Uri'],
'loginRedirect' => $g2_Config['loginredirect'],
'embedUri' => $g2_Config['embedUri'],
'fullInit' => 'false',
'apiVersion' => array(1,0)
));
GalleryCapabilities::set('login',true);

// handle the G2 request
$g2moddata = GalleryEmbed::handleRequest();
// show error message if isDone is not defined
if (!isset($g2moddata['isDone']))
{
print 'isDone is not defined, something very bad must have happened.';
exit;
}
// die if it was a binary data (image) request
if ($g2moddata['isDone'])
{
exit; /* uploads module does this too */
}
if ($ret)
{
print $ret->getAsHtml();
}

$page_title = $lang['Index'];
include($phpbb_root_path . 'includes/page_header.'.$phpEx);

echo $g2moddata['bodyHtml'];

include($phpbb_root_path . 'includes/page_tail.'.$phpEx);
?>

For gallery2
----> wwwroot/gallery

My question is how do i alter this to be correct

$g2_Config['path'] = '../gallery/';

$g2_Config['embedPath'] = '/gallery/';
$g2_Config['g2Uri'] = '/gallery/';
$g2_Config['loginredirect'] = '/gallery/';
$g2_Config['embedUri'] = 'gallery.php';

By having it like i have it now everythings seems to work but for me it looks wierd not having ../ for all the paths...!?

Has anyone been successful in using with the phpBB Aphrodite theme? dmolavi does a great job at giving instructions for subSilver but I don't use that default theme. Any help?

they should. please post in the forums at nukedgallery.net (as that's where the dev for the phpbb2 integration reads things). the only possible sticking point might be users (users that are in gallery might not be transferred to phpBB2).

I thought I might ask for help here. People are still able to register to my gallery (by-passing the PHPBB forum software) anyway to make the register link on the gallery go away when someone is not logged in. or better yet set it so it goes to the PHPBB registration page?

I searched for hours in the files trying to find where to edit it but all I got was an error...

hawker - in yuor g2 config.php file, set the embed_only to true, that will not allow users to visit your gallery in standalone mode and register in standalone mode.

For PHPNuke, phpBB2, and phpBB3 integration help, please visit NukedGallery.net.

Hello all,
First, yes I have posted this Q in the nukegallery forum, but no help so far. Thought I'd try my luck here.

I've performed the phpBB2.0/G2 integration, however I am encountering a problem when trying to configure the integration, at the phpBB admin / Gallery2 module.

When submitting the Configure settings, I get a blank (subsilver blue) page.
When attempting to sync users, I get a blank white page.

phpBB and Gallery2 both work perfectly in stand-alone mode.

Root site is www.stlscooterforum.com if you'd like to take a look.

Gallery2 <--> phpBB2 Integration ver 0.5.10
phpBB ver 2.0.22
Gallery2 ver 2.2.2

PHP version = 5.2.2 cgi-fcgi
Webserver = Apache/2.0.54 (Unix) PHP/4.4.7 mod_ssl/2.0.54 OpenSSL/0.9.7e mod_fastcgi/2.4.2 DAV/2 SVN/1.4.2
Database = mysqlt 5.0.24a-standard-log, lock.system=flock

Thanks!
Brian
