I really like the Notebook frame option, but I noticed in the image files that the images are not completely transparent (they're only .gif's and so can't do a good smooth mask) which means that if you use that frame on a background that isn't white, it looks bad as the white blended behind the shadow comes through.

So, I've fixed the images up and made a new frameset with .png files that works on any background colour. I've attached a .zip file of the directory, all you need to do is drop it in the /gallery/modules/imageframe/frames directory and it seems to work fine. The frame comes up as "True Notebook", but you can change that if you want. Feel free to incorporate this into the Gallery source so other users can use it too, as I assume so may want this option.

G2 is looking super-sweet, thanks for all the hard work in it, and i can't wait to see the final product.

one of the various google hits...

png isn't supported by IE, which is still the browser of about 90% of all users.

so if you replace anything that is based on .gif / widely supported technologies with .png, you should be aware of this.

well - that should just be one more reason to upgrade to some proper browser, netscape, opera and firefox all supports 8-bit alpha.

I'm not a Gallery2 developer, but could the problems with IE Explorer and png files be fixed by including/referencing the JavaScript-based PNG fix described at http://homepage.ntlworld.com/bobosola/index.htm in the "frame.inc".
I recognise not all IE Explorer users will have JavaScript enabled, but I suggest that the vast majority do.
