Adding photos attempts to add photos twice

When I attempt to import new photos into an album using the "URL" feature pointing to a .zip file, I get something like the following:

- Adding IMG_0266.JPG 
   Resizing/compressing original image 
   No resizing required 
- Resizing IMG_0266 

- Adding ._IMG_0266.JPG 
   Resizing/compressing original image 
   No resizing required 
Error: Invalid image: IMG_0266_001.jpg

For some reason, the images are all imported correctly first, and then Gallery attempts to import them again as different images, each with the file name ammended with "_001" on the end. Of course, there is no image of this name, so they generate an error.

The images that are processed seem to be imported just fine, but I'd like to get rid of this error.
