Adding a second gallery and separating albums

I have two questions how can I separate albumns so that they don't link to each other?

If I want to add a second gallery to my server ie it will have a different name and a different photographers pictures in it can I just copy my exiting gallery folders into the new sudomain and reconfigure? I tried to do this but it still linked back to the original and was not separate.

I would be very grateful if you could point me at the right instructions which I am sure must exist somewhere.
