I love this product. So much so, that Im fast reaching the storage limit with my web service- Im at 450 of 500M. I have other locations I can store files, but they are all 500M or under. It would be great if I could split some of the files acros another server (or two).... even if I could just make the /albums directory remote from my nuke-php directory, etc. Any ideas? (besides paying for 1 Gig of staorage!) |

This is nearly impossible. The value of Gallery is that it can modify albums on the fly. That means that you need write access the where the photos are . .. . that means they have to be on the same system.
While I guess there is a possiblilty of using ssh or similar to tunnel to another system, it was complicated and open to security bugs. I don't think it's going to be implemented.

It would also not be applicable to many people, and VERY DIFFICULT to setup securely. The work-to-usefulness ratio on this is quite high..

Yeah, that makes sense... it would have been convenient to have PHP-nuke running on one server and the gallery on another, but - such is life!
Still, awesome product.
The ease of use and ability to "get pictures online, quickly" is just fantastic.
