Movies in Gallery 3

Hello All;

I have setup my gallery and everything works great with it so far. I wanted to upload some movies to my gallery and so I followed the directions of selecting always allow upload of the movies. However, it seems that the movies that are uploaded via the interface are ending with a .jpg extension and only a picture of them shows and not able to get to the video or play it. They are very large jpegs. I do not have and cannot install ffmpeg. Does this mean I have no way of sharing these videos; even on another html page by embedding them? Just need to be able to upload via gallery. Thank you so much for your help.
