OK, I give up, I need help. I have not been able to move my G3 site to a new hosting account or even a totally new server.
I have spent almost two weeks of trying every thing listed in the forum as well as many variations that my own warped thinking could come up with, and no success.

I installed a fresh copy of G3 and it installed. I can make changes etc., so I know the new hosting account works with Gallery3.

What I am trying to do;
1. Keep the old G3 site operational until after the move, (so no creating a db of the same name)
2. Move to a new hosting account within the same hosting company (GoDaddy)

The site is now resident at www.ambeach.com/Annica/gallery3 on GoDaddy - host account "ambeach.com"
I am trying to move it to www.Schoene.us/gallery3 on GoDaddy - host account "schoene.us"

I even tried to move it to phyc.net/gallery3 on Arvixe servers as a test, I failed here too.

GoDaddy does not allow a second database with the same name even on a separate account.
That eliminates a lot of the forum step by steps to move G3 accounts.

I am trying to move it from a host domain(ambeach.com) sub-directory(Annica) install
to new host domain name(schoene.us) install

I hope I have given enough info to show my situation.

I have been trying many variations of the steps listed on the forum,
but basically I tried the following;

Attempt on GoDaddy servers
backed up the old database, (used phpMyAdmin)
backed up the var directory (used Filezilla)
backed up the entire G3 directory (used Filezilla)
created a new database on the new host account, (used GoDaddy "Add a MySQL Database")
imported the old database into the new database, (used phpMyAdmin)
changed the database.php file to reflect the new db information. (used Filezilla and notepad editors)
FTP'd the var directory to the new account. (used Filezilla)
ran the installer with success

I get Page ok, or the OOPS! screens.

Attempt on ARVIXE servers
I tried to move the site to an entirely new server, at another company !
created an identical database,
imported the old database info,
changed the database.php 'host' name to match the new server
FTP'd the var directory to the new server,
FTP'd the old site to the new server,
ran installer, first page said I was done
but clicking on go to the site gave me the page ok or the OOPS!

I must be overlooking something basic.
I think I have read most every entry in the forum on this and tried most of them !
It is time to ask for help.....
Could someone please set me on the right path?
Thanks,
Anne

If you mean the url rewrite thing.. yes I did

I am in the process of rebuilding the site from scratch...
so if you could shed some light on this problem, I might get some sleep in the next week or so !
My original site has a lot of modified code to customize the site. If you would like to see how it is supposed to look click on the link going to ambeach.com. Thanks Anne
