Hi all,

I have my Gallery 2 set up on one server, and I am migrating to a new server which runs Gallery 3.

How do I move my data and settings to the new server?

Thanks for your help.

Thanks for the info. A nifty module if I had both Galleries on the same server.
I even tried it, and works fine.

But I have the old Galley 2 on one server, and the new Gallery 3 on another.
I backed up the DB, but I understand the DB does not actually contain the pictures, and just the locations.

Hmmm, not too sure then... Perhaps someone else will chime in.

The import module needs to be on the same server and operational as well. It uses the G2 API to call the images and do the migration.
I guess you have a few options:
Install G3 on the old server migrate from G2 to G3 then move the G3 to the new server
Move the G2 on the old server to the new and then migrate to G3 on the new server.
Use the server add method on the new server after FTPing the albums from the old G2 install to a temp location on the new server. You will loose the meta data that you had on the G2 install.
Just move the G2 to the new server and continue to use G2.
Use one of the export/import methods:

Good luck!

Dave

Thanks for both of your help.

I just installed the G3 on the new server, created my albums, and inserted the pics, it is nice you can add all pics at the same time.

I had to get used to G3, a lot different than G2. and I actually added a new Theme, and a few modules.
A lot of improvements from G2 to G3.
