Export photos to new gallery installation

I have an album that, over the years, grew larger than I ever predicted, with tons of photos and nested albums and whatnot.

Now the Idea is to migrate that album to a new gallery installation. Are there any guides on how to do this? Can this even be done without having to re-upload everything?

I guess this module http://codex.galleryproject.org/Gallery3:Modules:serveradd would do the job, since the photos are just files in a directory structure, but I'd lose all the metadata like tags, right?

why not just move them with the organize module?

Oh sorry a new gallery install. Yes the server add is the way to go but like you said the meta data will be lost, unless its in the iptc/exif data with the original.

You could just move/copy the entire gallery database and all, then just use gallery to delete what you didn't intend to move.
