Deleting albums

I tried deleting an album from Gallery3 by selecting the album and deleting it as admin from gallery3 in the browser. It had sub-albums in it and couldn't delete it. I went to var/albums/ and deleted the rogue album directory. Now gallery3 shows blanks for where the deleted album was. Presumably this is still in the mysql database. What's the best way to fix this; edit the mysql or something else?

Is there a command to get gallery to rebuild the database based on the current contents of var/albums? That would be really useful.

You could try the maintenance task, but I'm not it handles this completely.
alternatively, you could put the album back and use a "legitimate" deletion method.
