Default Slideshow

Am at a total loss - since Cooliris is the default built-in - there is no other option which spells disaster by now:

Cooliris has not and will not upgrade Firefox to any higher than version 10 -
which leaves right now already a high percentage of users out in the cold.
Current stable FF version is 13.0.01
The screen loads, the thumbnail holders show - but they appear as broken images.

I had to deactivate the slideshow completely, ergo, a gallery without a slideshow at all.

Is there a fallback to some simple slideshow that could be implemented?
I hope so - because a gallery without a slideshow is missing a major feature for any gallery.

If anyone has any suggestions or know of a third party plugin that offers slideshow with full screen option - I would very much appreciate it.
Am building a site for a photographer and have a hard time currently explaining why there is no slideshow to view.
Thank you
Michele

Ps: also tested it in latest version of IE, it does still work there but is excruciatingly slow.
With Cooliris no longer updating, the core slideshow needs to be replaced with something else.

Don't know. Does not work form me with Chrome either.
the rss feed http://renastudio.com//shop/index.php/rss/feed/gallery/album/2 seems to be fine.
Some other JS running? Disable all modules (except rss and slideshow) and try with the default wind theme.

OK, will try it again - Thank you for looking.
I had yesterday already tried right after initial install, did not have any mods in there yet.
It did not work with the default wind theme either].
But, I will try one more time again tomorrow.

I had been using G2 for many years, and with this new domain to fill, I thought I go finally with G3.
Everything else is fine with it.
If all else fails I will just have to use the wordpress end, where I purchased grandfia gallery/skin plugin
to display aestethic the images.
And use G3 simply for the combination of the cart and e-cards [ actually all I need for that site really.
I would have gone with some other wp theme also, had actually purchased one, but with over 80 thousand images that will be loaded, none
is really good enough - and since I know Menalto so well, I knew it would hold up [I would never consider coppermine - what a dinosaur]
Long before I actually signed up here in the forum, I used version 1 way back when and so on and struggled also with the SSP/Director integration. [There
goes another project that is dying now since a while]

So - yes - am trying everything to hold on to G3 :):)
Cheers,
Michele

Creating a new slideshow would not be a big deal.
BUT if I did, there would still be these users who are trying to display 100+ 2.5MB images in a javascript slideshow(that's 250MB) - idiots!
"Why does the slideshow crash my browser?"
And I would not want the support for such practices.

At least flash had its own memory pool, but now its all in the browser.
My browser's cache limit is set to a cool 80MB.

Well, I've tried everything - no use, the cooliris simply shows the broken thumb. Without a proper slideshow, I cannot use Gallery3 :(.
Am now out of time and have to present my client with an alternative.
After all these years using Gallery2 - am sad to leave. And there is no mention anywhere that cooliris will be replaced.
I know one thing though give or take another year, and there will be many more that face the same problem with cooliris being the defualt, once people update their browsers, at least the FF ones, Gallery 3 simply will have a broken default slideshow.
I will check in once in a while to see if there has been a solution or possible one addressed.
:( so sad - bye for now.

I'm not seeing how this could be such an issue for a developer like yourself.
Once you mention "client" I lose all sympathy.

In my dev G3 I replaced the default slideshow w/ the cooliris embeddable wall willy nilly.
And could easily add whatever slideshow I want just by editing /gallery3/modules/slideshow/helpers/slideshow_theme.php

I even added a different slideshow on the front page of my G3 and have several other external samples with code hints as well.
