how to set the capture date to the exif-date?

hi
as a standard gallery takes the upload date the same as the picture taken (capture) date. i know that i can go and change this manually, but with 800 pictures, this is a bit too much work. especially because all this date is in the exif header. when i go to the properties page of a photo i can see there the correct date in the exif data.

now my question: is there any way to set the capture date equal to the data in the exif header? that would safe A LOT of work. i didnt find anything in the FAQ nor here in the forums. thanks for your help.

Gallery does this for you when you upload an image and have jhead installed. Sounds like you didn't install jhead until after you already uploaded the 800 photos.

Unfortunately, you'll need to write a script to do this. It's possible that somebody already did this -- I seem to recall something like it. I suggest that you check the archives of the old gallery-users mailing list and see if there's some code that will do this for you.

thats exactly what i did. thanks for the hint, i didnt find any solution there, just two guys with the same problem. i'll mail them and if i find something post it here (or if someone has a solution, please let me know!). i such an asshole, jhead didnt work at the first try so i thought, what the heck, i'll do that later. now jhead works, but too late.... :sad:
