Importing with a website back of files?

I have an old backup of all the files of the contents of a friends gallery install (Gallery 1)- she made the backup from FTP and burned to a disc. The actual gallery is long gone as is the access to the mysql. She has 58 folders (and about 40-60 images in each folder) in the 'albums' folder Is there any way to import these into Gallery 2.3.x or Gallery 3 so that it can read the .dat files in each folder to get the descriptions? Any help would be very appreciated! |

Im not sure how the G1 import module works but I would assume all it needs is the directory structure with the .dat files.
