Moving from host to host upgrading from G2 to G3

Please, advice an easiest way to move G2 from one host to G3 on new host. G3 installed and looking good. G2 import module reporting error then I pointing to embed.php. Possible causes – DB wasn’t moved, G2 wasn’t updated to the latest version, g2data was moved to temp folder – not in public_html folder. All I need to re-import albums with earache (album tree) and I don’t care about users, comments etc. Please, share what can cause this problem or what dependencies wasn’t count – I’ll research rest. Thank you. |

You need a working G2 to import from.

If you can't get G2 to work on either server...
Then you can use the server add method in G3 to import your G2 albums as long as the G2 items are on the same server as G3.

I have fully working G2 on original host, I was wondering if I can skip installation of G2 on new host or somehow import galleries from remote host to keep new host installation cleaner.

nope
++ on the same server OR the same local network - as long as you have a network path to your G2's embed.php

Then upgrade g2 to the latest version, install g3, import your g2, then move your g3 to the new server.
