I just bit the bullet and installed Gallery 3 on a website I have hosted on GoDaddy. I am using MySQL 5 on the server. After the installation finished successfully I was taken to a Gallery page that had almost no functionality and no theming. I tried logging out and logging back in and still no functionality. What has gone wrong with my installation?

Another issue I have is the login link which is gallery3/index.php/login/ajax. What the heck is this supposed to be? Is this installation hosed?

This doesn't answer this situation. I have used Gallery 2 for years on a Windows IIS system. I've never run into this much trouble getting Gallery up and running. It is as if part of the code is missing.

Windows is not a supported OS for G3.

All I can offer is:
http://codex.gallery2.org/Gallery3:Installation_on_Windows_Server_2008_and_IIS7
or stick with G2

I realize that. See my initial comment. I am installing on a Linux system (2.2) using MySQL (5.3) on a GoDaddy shared host. I just tried clearing it out and reinstalling. NO JOY!! There is no default theme, no admin tools, nothing but some broken links!!! Checkout http://www.photography-geek.com/gallery3/index.php. This shouldn't be this difficult.

Have you followed the directions? It does not seem that difficult as the community has found and offered their suggestions:

This is my first website and first gallery install ever, so... I'm dumb as a bag of hammers! I downloaded and installed Galley 3 as per instructions, created the var directory and assigned 777 rights. created the mysql datafile and copied that info into popup dialog box "Successful install" click link to begin...all i get is my home page. Looked at troubleshooting guide..no help there for me. Checked database.php and username and password correct for database.
Created an phpinfo.php file and placed it in the gallery3 directory.
FYI - I installed the gallery3 folder into the public_html section of the server, is that where it should go?

Here is the link to the phpinfo file: http://trudeaufoto.com/gallery3/phpinfo.php

Can someone help, thanks.

Thanks again

When I visit http://trudeaufoto.com/gallery3/ I get redirected to:
http://trudeaufoto.com/blog/ So I suspect some rewrite rule is intercepting that.
as a temporary troubleshootng fix remove the .htaccess file that is at http://trudeaufoto.com/ .htaccess
then browse to http://trudeaufoto.com/gallery3/
Does that work?

this might help as well:

dkwa2, start a new thread with your findings since your issue might be different than the original poster.
