Problem with identity_provider

I was fiddling with identity_provider in the advanced settings and of course generated a server error page. I then went to the DB and added back 'user' into the identity_provider field. That changed nothing. Searching on this forum I found this thread: http://gallery.menalto.com/node/103115. So, I changed the indicated line and that yielded a blank page. I'm stuck at this point and need suggestions. Thanks.

it looks to me like you made some customization other than just fiddling with an advanced setting.
The page starts to load and gets to the some code after the logo and stops.
The servers error log might have a clue or the galllery3/va/logs/ might as well.

Well, I'm not what the source is supposed to tell me. Other than 'normal' configuration stuff I did nothing other than muck things up with the advanced setting. The current state is a result of the 'fix' suggested in the thread mentioned above. Specifically, in the gallery3/modules/gallery/libraries/IdentityProvider.php file I changed the below:

public function __construct($config=null) {
if (empty($config)) {
$config = 'user');
}

In the var/logs I see nothing as a result of the change and I have no access to the server logs.

If I revert back to the original IdentityProvider.php -- which I have now done -- I get a Server Error upon load and see this in the log file:

At the end of the first line, 'empty' was the value I manually inputted into the advanced settings. (Don't ask why...it was a mistake!)

So, how and where do I remove that 'empty' value?
