We have recently started getting problems with the image previews imagemagick is producing from pdf files uploaded. The image preview appears cropped. The problem is specifically with landscape documents, the preview is rendered as portrait and cropped. It seems to be linked to some obscure compatibility issue with ghostscript.
Anyone out there with any insights would be most welcome...

You will see the preview is portrait and cropped while the original pdf is landscape.
Thanks,

That URL is a 404, but I found your test under gallery2/test
I uploaded that PDF to my G2 install and it works:

Did ImageMagick or Ghostscript get upgraded recently on your server? I'm running these versions:
ImageMagick 6.6.0-4
GhostScript 8.71
From what you posted above, your ImageMagick install is actually quite old. For it to have been working, then suddenly stop, something has changed.

Oops sorry 'bout the url.
Hmm.. yes I moved to a new server with our isp. The version of imagemagick is the same but the ghostscript might be different. That is what renders a bitmap of the pdf right? I'll check with them what the ghostscript version is. Oddly if I load the pdf up in my mac preview and re-save it the re-upload the preview renders fine. Thats what makes me think there is some version incompatibility. I know when I set up another gallery2 site on another server, another isp. They used a much later version of imagemagick and it did not even process the pdf - although it may be they did not have ghostscript sorted properly.
Thanks again...
